Popularity of eReaders in Canada

27 Dec

It’s quite obvious that if it wasn’t for the eReaders, future generation would lose interest in reading books completely. Good thing is that the eReaders in Canada are becoming very popular even among younger portion of the population. Although they are more interested in the apps and videos available for these devices, the actual purpose of reading books is still there and every now and then, you will see young people reading books. Maybe they are doing it while wearing a headphone and supposedly listening to music but still, it counts.

Among the available choices of eReaders in Canada, you will find that some devices are more than just e-book readers. They are actually capable of playing HD video contents and Android games or apps. Depending on the abilities of these devices, the price and popularity among some of the user groups choose specific ones over others.

Probably an undoubted choice for most fans of eReaders in Canada is the Amazon Kindle and Kindle Fire. There are plenty of choices for all types of users when buying a Kindle or a Kindle Fire. You can choose from the very basic version, capable of only reading books but gives a very long reading time on a single charge to the most expensive Kindle Fire HD 8.9 inch version. It’s not hard to imagine what the popular choice would be among the younger users. The Kindle Fire HD can play high resolution video contents and Android apps available via Amazon app store.

Kindle Fire HD also comes in smaller screen sizes along with several communication options like 3G, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. Due to the Canadian Law, there is a limit to what contents you can download on these devices. Kobo Arc being the other popular and capable eReader device offers an unbounded access to Google Play, the Android supermarket. Unlike Amazon’s devices, Arc is more logically priced and has more potentials than Kindle.

Especially if you consider the content availability and hardware specs, Kobo Arc is a very good device. As a competitor to Kindle, Kobo has gained a significant amount of attention in Canada due to its positive approach towards Canadian market. Already a lot of potential buyers have decided on Arc over Kindle. Since the recent announcement about new Kindle Fire not being released in the Canadian market, that share has grown. However, the choice is up to the users and their preferences about devices and contents.
